Good Friday

"Luke 23:39-43 (NIV1984)

One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him:“Aren’t you the Christ? Save yourself and us!”

But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”

Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. ’”

Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.”"

He died for us, though innocent. He sacrificed His life to become the perfect offer, acceptable to God, to atone for our sins and reconcile man with the Holy God. Today, Good Friday, we celebrate His altruistic deed of mercey and are grateful for His sacrifice. He lay down His life, only to pick it up again at the third day. By this act of love He conquered death and defeated satan, offering man the one and only true way to reconciliation with God. Only through acceptance of this Perfect Offer, man can be reconciled with God. The second criminal being sentenced to death understood and accepted the offer, reaping the fruit of his decision: he was reconciled!

What a wonderful and mercyful God we serve. Praise and Glory are due to Him, Halelujah!
